Light of Mind Practitioner - Integrative Psychotherapist. MANTRA therapist
Light of Mind practitioner Amy and Mary met through their work in NHS eating disorder services. Mary ‘spotted’ Amy’s energy across a crowded room, and they connected over shared values and philosophies. Mary felt drawn to Amy’s warmth, compassion, obvious skill and open heart and asked her to join the Light of Mind service. Amy has a gentle yet powerful way of describing what it takes to guide her clients to their own personal discovery of the light of their mind. Mary is thrilled that Light of Mind is able to connect clients to Amy’s warmth, care and experience.
In her therapy sessions Amy uses;
- Cognitive Behavioural Theory (CBT)
- Attachment Theory
- Person Centred Theory (PCT)
The practice of integrative psychotherapy means to draw on a range of psychological theories, choosing the ones that are the best fit for each client. In sessions with Amy, she will hold a space for you to find safety in the vulnerability of exploring your inner world. The aim of sessions is to help you find your own answers and unique way forwards in an increasingly complex world. She believes that therapy should be a collaborative process, that builds a trusting relationship between therapist and client.
Amy has worked in private and public various sectors such as; The Priory, domestic abuse services, learning disability services and as a specialist counsellor for amputees in an NHS specialist ability centre.
She currently spends part of her week in Cheshire and |Wirral NHS trust, as FREED practitioner for the Cheshire East community Eating Disorder service.
She is a:
- MANTRA Therapist
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-E)
- Compassion Focused Therapy for Eating Disorders (CFT-E)
- BACP accredited Psychotherapist
- Outdoors Therapist
She believes that we can look to nature for inspiration on ways to adapt and maintain our wellbeing. She understands how nature can give us concrete and tangible ways to understand our feelings, sensations and thoughts –those things that are often hard to communicate with words alone!
Your season shift therapy session with Amy can take place outdoors as a therapeutic walk in the peak district or you can be still and warm your toes by the fire pit in her garden therapy space. She also offers face to face session in her home therapy room (check out the photos of her fabulous pink front door and therapy room - can you picture yourself sitting there with a cuppa) or can work remotely.
Amy lives in the beautiful Peak District with her partner and two rescue hairless cats, Arla and Albert! She enjoys all things outdoors and is particularly passionate about supporting people to tread the muddy waters (often literally) of endurance sports and disordered eating/exercise. She feels particularly aligned with the values of sustainability that Light of Mind promotes and wants to help her clients find and trust their inner compass.
